Jam Jah Sound is 15 years old !
So the soundsystem faction and foundation of the Friendly Fire Music operation is celebrating 15 years in the business this month!
Starting in 2001 at the Bull’s Head in Moseley after a shaky beginning at the Custard Factory, Jam Jah Sound has become an institution with over 750 weekly Monday nights without fail providing the best reggae and dancehall selection in Brum, week in week out. From that came festivals and venues all around the UK, as well as travelling to Turkey, France, Italy and performing as a semi-live act with Bongo Damo’s live percussion and vocalists from the Friendly Fire Camp and further afield.
Since October 2015, Jam Jah Sound has found a new home in the Dark Horse, Moseley, allowing us to expand to a bigger space, with an excellent soundsystem and the added benefit of Edwardo running the visuals and making for a beautiful decor. In the 15 years of existence, we have had too many guests to mention, and you can listen to some of the recordings on mixcloud.
Jam Jah Sound will be celebrating in two parts – part one will be at the resident venue the Dark Horse on Monday 14th – with an extension until 2am – free entry!
The same week, Friday 18th, we will be back at the Hare and Hounds for a night of hype with some special guests that were influential in the early days of the sound.
On the night you will be entertained by:
Repping the Jam Jah Family in full effect!
Tickets are £8, or you can get on the £5 guest list by sending and email to firstname.lastname@example.org (one name per email)
There will be a free CD for the first 100 peeps to come through the door and nuff giveaways on the night.
