Accomplished musician and multi-instrumentalist Peter Spence is best known for his major contribution to the lovers rock era, while also recording powerful roots music and, more recently, an entire gospel reggae album. His latest collaboration with Friendly Fire Band, “Soldier of Jah Army,” bridges those worlds beautifully. The track delivers a heavyweight reworking of Barry Biggs’ roots classic “Work All Day” riddim, over which Spence lays down his signature, harmony-rich vocals.
This release is livicated to the late, great producer Joe G, who first initiated the project with Peter before sadly passing away, leaving it unfinished. It was a true honour for Friendly Fire Band to revisit the instrumental and complete the song in his memory.
